A well kept secret
It was obviously a well kept secrect that Brad Johner would visit Hall Lake last weekend. This Canadian Country music sensation stepped onto the stage at Sally Ross School and entertained community members with the same flat out energy one might expect from a stadium style performance. He bantered easily with community organizers and offered a glimpse of a real "people's" performer. He mingled with the audience after the show graciously posing for snapshots and signing autographs.
For anyone who was within reasonable driving distance of Hall Lake on Saturday, you missed a free show that would have been well worth the drive even if you were driving from Saskatoon. For a little taste of Brad Johner music, check out the YouTube links below.

Free stuff!
Do you want this free car?
Visit Kijiji Saskatoon and click on the "FREE" section in the bottom right hand corner.
If you are interested in buying something else cheap visit the site and do a search. You can also sell or trade items. You can type in Prince Albert or La Ronge or specific items to find things closer to the north. Kona found her little camper trailer in Prince Albert and bartered them down for an even cheaper price! You can also post a message asking for free items. People who want to get rid of things may contact you to come and get it for FREE, just because they don't want to move it or throw it away. People are using the kijiji website to find a job by posting up their skills or trades for hire. Certain clubs or hobby groups also advertise their events.

National Secretary Day
Thanks to Debbie, we were made aware that yesterday was National Secretary Day. She picked up flowers and nice things for Robin, our new office support person. I believe that every day is a day to celebrate our office support. Without Robin, we would really be struggling to get things done. Robin is a model of efficiency and has accomplished a huge amount in a very short time. This should also be a time to celebrate people like Debbie who are able to keep track of significant opportunities to celebrate the contributions of others. Thank you to both Robin and Debbie. Your efforts do not go unnoticed and are greatly appreciated by everyone associated with edcentre.ca.

Award Winner
Martina Carriere has created a short film about her daily life out at the trapline and entered it in the CHG Tripod Production's Short Video Festival. She just got news on Saturday that her film was selected for the most impressive short film award. The film offers the viewer insights into a life many dream of and romanticize. The realities of getting water, keeping the fire, life with the dogs, snowshoeing and yes, doing school work are captured in a collage of personalized vignettes. Martina is an online student who travels back and forth from her home in the bush to Cumberland House, Saskatoon, Regina, The Pas, and other far flung locations to send and recieve feedback on school assignments. Martina is a powerhouse of ideas, enthusiasm and energy. Congratulations on your latest achievement Martina.

Newest La Ronge resident visits online school
Emmy Isabella was in attendance at the online school this afternoon. Unfortunately for us, she decided to sleep in class. We expect that the next time she visits we will be be able to converse with her (in baby language of course).
If you saw the post on April 6, you would know that Erin surprised everyone including herself by having her baby two days after she went on Maternity leave from her work at the edcentre.ca office. Erin and Emmy dropped by the office this afternoon for a visit. We look forward to future visits. Stay posted for future baby updates.
